President Tinubu’s Commitment to Transparency Is Unmatched – Opposition Should Stop Politicising Ongoing Investigations

The National Coordinator of one of the oldest Tinubu support groups under the auspices of the Disciples of Jagaban, Honourable Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, has strongly condemned attempts by opposition figures to drag the name of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into the ongoing investigation involving a federal agency.
It is unfortunate that some opposition elements are determined to politicise every national issue instead of allowing due process and the rule of law to prevail. President Tinubu should be completely separated from the issues under investigation. If he had intended to shield anyone or conceal wrongdoing, he had every opportunity to do so from the outset. Instead, his administration has chosen the path of transparency, accountability, and openness.
President Tinubu’s government has demonstrated a clear commitment to exposing corruption wherever it exists, irrespective of who is involved. This is a significant departure from the past, where many scandals only surfaced after administrations had left office. Today, Nigerians are witnessing a government that is willing to confront problems during its tenure rather than postpone accountability for future administrations.
History speaks for itself. After President Olusegun Obasanjo left office, several investigations followed. Similar probes emerged after the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, and even now, investigations relating to officials who served during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration continue. This shows that corruption investigations are not unique to any one government.
The difference under President Tinubu is that his administration is prepared to expose alleged wrongdoing while still in office. That should be commended, not condemned.
Rather than acknowledging the administration’s achievements in road infrastructure, economic reforms, security improvements, and other developmental programmes, some opposition figures have chosen to focus solely on allegations and controversies. Instead of encouraging transparency, they seek to weaponise every investigation for political gain.
The ongoing investigation itself demonstrates that there is no sacred cow under President Tinubu’s leadership. The administration has created systems that make it increasingly difficult for corruption and abuse of office to remain hidden. This is exactly the kind of accountability Nigerians have long demanded.
It is disappointing that some political actors continue to rely on misinformation and fabricated allegations to deceive the public. Recently, false claims circulated alleging that the Federal Government spent ₦7 trillion outside the approved budget. Those allegations were widely propagated without credible evidence. Such misinformation may generate temporary political excitement, but it cannot withstand scrutiny or the test of time.
The opposition should understand that no political movement built on falsehood, propaganda, and deliberate distortion can endure. Truth will always prevail over deception.
Before this investigation became public, many of us had already heard reports about the matter. However, President Tinubu ensured that the appropriate institutions were allowed to carry out their responsibilities transparently so that Nigerians themselves could see that his administration has nothing to hide. That decision reflects confidence in the nation’s institutions and reinforces his commitment to accountability.
Those of us who support President Tinubu firmly believe that Almighty God has continued to guide his leadership. We pray that God grants him wisdom, strength, and protection as he continues to govern Nigeria and confront the challenges facing our nation.
It is both unnecessary and misleading for anyone to suggest that this investigation implicates the President personally. Nigerians should allow the investigative process to run its full course without political interference or premature conclusions. Anyone found guilty should face the full weight of the law, regardless of status or position.
As the 2027 general election approaches, we remain confident that President Tinubu’s record of reforms, transparency, and national development will speak louder than propaganda. We call on all well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting his administration as it works to build a stronger, more accountable, and more prosperous nation.
May Almighty Allah continue to guide, protect, and strengthen President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
