The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Sen. Prof. Stephen Odey, Esq., on Tuesday, joined his counterparts from the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at a national retreat currently ongoing in Abuja. The retreat was formally declared open by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa.
The high-level engagement is organized by the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education in Nigeria (COSCEN), in collaboration with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Federal Ministry of Education. The 5-day Executive Retreat brings together Honourable Commissioners for Education from across the country to deliberate on critical issues shaping the future of education in Nigeria.
The retreat is designed to strengthen leadership capacity, enhance institutional coordination, and drive measurable outcomes in the education sector through performance governance, resource mobilization, and sustainable education financing across the 36 States and the FCT. This national engagement focuses on improving education service delivery, ensuring institutional sustainability, and promoting strategic legacy planning within Nigeria’s education sector.
