The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Sen. Prof. Stephen Odey, Esq., on Thursday received members of the Omgbotuche Ayi Yala Welfare Initiative during a courtesy visit at his office in Calabar.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Dr. Ogar Freeman, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for his accessibility and warm reception whenever the association visits. Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Freeman formally invited Senator Odey to attend the forthcoming 2026 Festival of Unity/Yala Unity Walk as the Special Guest of Honour, noting that his presence would add great value and prestige to the event.
Responding, Professor Odey commended the initiative for its commitment to fostering peace, unity, and development among the Yala people. He applauded the association’s dedication to sustaining its activities and organizing programmes that promote togetherness.
