CALABAR – SOUTH CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL YOUTHS COUNCIL OF NIGERIA PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO CROSS RIVER EDUCATION COMMISSIONER

A delegation from the Calabar South Chapter of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), led by its Chairman Comrade Eyo Nsa Ekpenyong and the Legal Adviser Barrister Godwin Ikpemba, paid a courtesy visit to Senator Associate Professor Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education, Cross River State, at the Ministry of Education Headquarters Calabar. The meeting aimed to discuss youth development initiatives and potential collaboration areas with the Ministry, focusing on addressing out-of-school children in Calabar South. Comrade Ekpenyong commended the Commissioner’s commitment to educational development and anticipated a partnership empowering youths and providing opportunities for out-of-school children.
The Commissioner praised the NYCN Calabar South leadership for their proactive approach and willingness to collaborate on this critical issue. Associate Professor Odey highlighted Governor Apostle Prince Bassey Otu’s initiatives to tackle the out-of-school children crisis, including free WAEC registration for indigenous students, alleviating financial burdens on families. To enhance collaboration, the Commissioner suggested compiling precise data on out-of-school children in Calabar South, crucial for the Cross River State Government WAEC palliative program. The meeting concluded positively, reaffirming both parties’ commitment to advancing educational development and youth empowerment sustainably.
