The senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ireti Kingibe, has launched a blistering attack on Nyesom Wike, describing him as an autocrat that should never have been made a minister.
Senator Ireti Kingibe revealed that former President Muhammadu Buhari reserved a vast piece of land in Bwari, FCT, for a top-tier elite general hospital meant to serve Nigerians in the near future. But The current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has allegedly revoked that land allocation and is planning to turn it into a commercial center
She accused Wike of running the FCT like his personal estate and ignoring due process and the needs of ordinary citizens. She claims this revocation is not only unethical, but also a huge betrayal of public trust!
You know Wike has always argued that these revocations are legal under the Land Use Act, especially when the original owners fail to meet certain conditions like paying ground rent. He says he is simply cleaning up the FCT to generate more revenue and restore order.
Senator Kingibe said most residents of Abuja have not benefited from Wike’s projects. She accused him of sidelining elected representatives, ignoring the input of stakeholders, and prioritizing flashy infrastructure over essential public services. She further noted that Wike’s administration has failed to pay many FCT workers, removed local street sweepers, and lacked a people-centered development strategy. Comparing him to former FCT Minister Nasir El-Rufai, she said El-Rufai was more inclusive in his approach.
But contrary to online claims, Senator Kingibe did not say that President Tinubu’s appointment of Wike was his biggest political mistake. Her criticisms were directed at Wike’s performance.
