The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Sen. Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., on Friday attended the book launch of Associate Professor Virginia Emmanuel Ironbar, held at the Cross River State Library. The well-attended event featured the presentation of two scholarly works: “Digital Framework for Rural & Community Development: Principles, Theories and Practices” and “Community Psychology & Pedagogical Innovation in Teaching and Learning.” The occasion also coincided with the author’s 20th wedding anniversary, marking a significant academic and personal milestone.
Assoc. Prof. Ironbar, wife of the Chief of Staff to Governor Bassey Otu, Hon. Chief Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, was widely commended for her contributions to education and community development.
In his remarks, Professor Odey described the books as “a brilliant intellectual effort” that would enrich knowledge, particularly for students and researchers. He praised the author’s commitment to advancing education and encouraged continuous scholarly contributions toward solving societal challenges.
The ceremony was chaired by Engr. Augustine Eboagwu and drew notable personalities, including the Wife of the Governor, Bishop Dr. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu (represented), the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, and the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, alongside Federal and State lawmakers, local government officials, and members of the academic community, including representatives from the University of Calabar.
The event highlighted the vital role of academic scholarship in promoting rural and community development, as well as fostering innovation and growth through education.
