The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Calabar Branch, led by its Chairman, Barr. Enome Amatey, paid a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Sen. Prof. Stephen Odey, Esq. The visit was to formally invite the Commissioner to serve as Special Guest of Honour at the Association’s forthcoming Bar Week—an annual event focused on promoting justice, equity, and good governance.
During the visit, the delegation presented the Commissioner with the symbolic “Fit and Proper” shirt, representing integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards within the legal profession. Both parties held discussions on the importance of the rule of law, as well as the vital link between education and the legal system in shaping responsible citizens and strengthening democratic institutions.
Professor Odey expressed appreciation for the honour and commended the NBA for its dedication to upholding justice and societal values. He also assured the delegation of his willingness to participate in the Bar Week activities.
The visit further highlighted the strong collaboration between the legal and education sectors in Cross River State, emphasizing their shared role in promoting discipline, enlightenment, and good governance.
