The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., has received the Rabbit Punch 2025 Commissioner of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the State education sector.
The award was presented on Friday, February 6, 2026, when the Publisher of Rabbit Punch, Comrade Ogar Emmanuel Oko, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner at his office in the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar. The visit was to formally brief the Commissioner on the Rabbit Punch initiative and officially notify him of his emergence as Commissioner of the Year following an online voting process.
Presenting the award, Comrade Ogar noted that Senator Odey was selected in recognition of his visionary leadership, progressive educational policies, and innovative reforms aimed at advancing education in Cross River State.
In his response, Sen. Professor Odey expressed deep appreciation to the Rabbit Punch team for the honour and commended the transparent online voting process, describing it as a true reflection of public confidence in his leadership. He also thanked members of the public who participated in the voting, noting that the award serves as encouragement to do more.
The Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining impactful reforms and strengthening the education system for the benefit of learners, teachers, and the overall development of Cross River State, in accordance with the People-First governance mantra of Governor Dr. Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
