NDLEA STATE COMMANDER DECORATES CROSS RIVER EDUCATION COMMISSIONER AS HER AMBASSADOR

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, has on Thursday, reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to safeguarding learners against drug abuse. He stated this while receiving the Cross River State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), SC John Anieyi, alongside the Deputy State Commander, DSC Bisong Peter Bisong, and other senior officers, on a courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the NDLEA and the Ministry of Education in the fight against drug abuse and related offences in schools across the state.

While welcoming the delegation, Professor Odey informed the NDLEA officials of the introduction of Anti-Drug Clubs in schools across Cross River State. He explained that the initiative is designed to educate students on the dangers of drug abuse, instill positive values, and promote healthy lifestyles among young people. The Commissioner commended the NDLEA for its proactive engagement with the education sector and assured the agency of the Ministry’s sustained partnership and cooperation in building a safe, healthy, and drug-free school environment.

The visit reached its climax with the decoration of Senator Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., as a War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Ambassador, in recognition of his efforts and commitment to promoting a drug-free school system in Cross River State.
