C’River Education Commissioner Inspects Schools, Enforces Closing Time Policy

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., on Wednesday conducted an unscheduled inspection of selected schools in Calabar to assess compliance with the state’s approved school closing time policy.

The policy mandates primary schools to close by 1:00 p.m. and secondary schools by 2:00 p.m., aimed at reducing learning fatigue and enhancing learners’ wellbeing. Schools visited included Auntie Margaret International Nursery, Primary and Secondary School and God’s Grace International Nursery and Primary School.

While commending the schools for compliance, the Commissioner appealed to parents to ensure timely pickup of their children, stressing that adequate rest is essential for effective learning. Professor Odey reaffirmed His Excellency, Governor Dr. Bassey Otu’s commitment to a child-friendly education system across the state.
