The Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMAC) for the Local Government Areas of Cross River North Senatorial District were today inaugurated by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Ogoja Local Government Headquarters, with representatives from across the Senatorial District in attendance.
Members of the Committee in each LGA include:
- All the Vice Chairmen are to Chairman LEMAC in their various LGAs
- The Supervisor for Humanitarian and Social Welfare – Member
- DSOs (Member)
- The Supervisor for Environment – Member
- The Supervisor for health
…and other designated officers responsible for local disaster management and emergency response coordination which include Red Cross, Civil Defence, Road Safety, Community stakeholders, etc.
The establishment of the committees is aimed at strengthening grassroots preparedness, response, and resilience to emergencies across the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
