OGOJA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN WINS BEST PERFORMING CHAIRMAN MERIT AWARD

The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Chief (Hon.) Christopher Agbeh, has been honoured as one of Nigeria’s Best Performing Local Government Chairmen, receiving a Merit Award for Rural Integration and Development at the Local Government Merit Award Ceremony held at the National Merit House, Abuja.

In his citation, Chief Agbeh was celebrated as a grassroots developer, humanitarian, and philanthropist whose selfless service and benevolence have greatly advanced community growth and individual empowerment across Ogoja, cutting across ethnic, political, and social lines.

Responding to the honour, Chief Agbeh expressed gratitude to God for the recognition, attributing his achievements to divine guidance and a deep commitment to improving the lives of the less privileged.

“This recognition is entirely the work of God, who has used me as an instrument to touch lives and bring development to our rural areas,” he said. “I dedicate this award to God and the rural dwellers of Ogoja, and I reaffirm my commitment to improving their living standards.”

The prestigious event attracted notable dignitaries from across the country, including the Wife of the Chairman, Mrs. Christy Agbeh; Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Akpanke; Former House of Representatives Member, Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbor; Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Chief (Hon.) Emmanuel Ironbar; Immediate Past Chief of Staff, Chief (Dr.) Martins Orim; Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Hon. Paddy Egede; Former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr. Boniface Egbeji; Ntufam (Dr.) Peter Ojie; Vice Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu; Leader of Ogoja Legislative Council, Hon. (Dr.) Elizabeth Mbim; as well as members of the Ogoja Executive Council and other distinguished guests.

Chief Agbeh’s recognition further cements Ogoja’s growing reputation for effective grassroots governance and community-driven development initiatives under his leadership.
