YALA COUNCILLORS PAY COURTESY VISIT TO C’RIVER EDUCATION COMMISSIONER IN CALABAR

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, on Monday, October 20, 2025, received councillors from Yala Local Government Area on a courtesy visit to his office in Calabar.

The visit followed a productive stakeholders’ meeting held earlier on Saturday, October 19, 2025. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Leader of the Yala Legislative Council, Hon. Mary Ejeh, disclosed that all outstanding issues between the councillors and the Chairman of Yala Local Government, Hon. Dr. Fred Okem, had been amicably resolved.

Hon. Ejeh reaffirmed the councillors’ commitment to supporting and cooperating with the Chairman to foster unity, peace, and development within the Local Government Area. She also expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Education, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Boniface Okache, and Members representing Yala I and II State Constituencies in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Odey Brian and Hon. Martin Achadu, for their mediation efforts and roles in resolving the issues.

In his remarks, Senator Professor Stephen Odey commended the councillors for embracing peace and dialogue, urging them to continue promoting harmony and teamwork in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized that Governor Bassey Otu and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, are men of integrity and peace who remain committed to the growth, unity, and stability of Cross River State.

The Commissioner further encouraged the councillors to work collectively for the progress and development of Yala Local Government Area and to contribute meaningfully to the overall advancement of the State.
