June 11, 2025

Today, Senator Associate Professor Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education Cross River State, attended the University of Education and Entrepreneurship Akamkpa’s inaugural matriculation ceremony alongside dignitaries, including Professor Susan Etim, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, Professor Patrick N. Asuquo, Vice Chancellor, Ambassador Jimmy Egbe, Registrar, and Members of the Governing Council of the UEE and His Royal Majesty Ophot Agbor Ewa Ebani, Paramount Ruler of Akampka Local Government Area with other royal fathers.

Senator Stephen Odey, Education Commissioner, emphasized the importance of timely school fee payments in preventing academic distractions, while addressing the dignitaries, management, staff, and matriculating students of UEE. He stated, ‘I am pleased to address you on this momentous occasion, the maiden Matriculation Ceremony of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa. As the first institution of its kind in Cross River State and Nigeria, it represents a significant step towards shifting the state’s status from a largely civil servant state to an entrepreneurial one. The expectation is that the university’s graduates will make notable strides, become self-employed, and employers of labor, thus reducing unemployment rates. I urge staff and students to rise to the challenge of making this institution a world-class university, and to remember that diligence yields rewards.’
