When you are looking at the face Mobutuo you see betrayal, a puppet and an enabler of evil in the DR Congo, the man who found pleasure in siding with the west and CIA to take out Patrice Lumumba his childhood friend against his people will. A man who single-handedly helped the Europeans, Chinese and Americans to sabotage and loot Congo. He is Mobutu Sese Seko. History never forgets.
Mobutu Sese Seko – President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1965 to 1997. Notorious for corruption, nepotism, and the embezzlement of between US$4bn and $15bn. He has been described as the “archetypal African dictator.” Died in 1997 owing to prostate cancer.
Mobutu Sese Seko was the second president of the DRC who is regarded as one of Africa’s worst dictators. Mobutu changed the name of Congo to Zaire in 1971. During the Congolese crisis, Belgium aided Mobutu in the overthrow of Patrice Lumumba. Mobutu is also known to have connived with China and Jonas Savimbi against Agostino Neto during the Angolan civil war. Also, Mobutu collaborated with China to limit Soviet influence in Africa. He expelled Soviet diplomats and declared 20 of them persona non grata in 1970. The US was the third largest donor of aid to Mobutu after Belgium and France and Mobutu was particularly close to US presidents Carter and Reagan whom he visited regularly in the White House. At the end of the cold war when the United States no longer had need of Mobutu, it began to call for his removal and even denied him an entry visa into the United States in 1993.
Mobutu Sese Seko was an American agent playing for both sides. He made a deal with President Eisenhower to become the Congo president for 30 years. However, making a deal with the devil comes with a price and that price was Patrice Lumumba. How can an army general become a president after the death of a minister, Patrice Lumumba?
Today, we have another Congo President doing the same mistakes Mobutu did.
