In a historic move, the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, has approved and announced the release of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and SS2 mock examination results ahead of the new academic session. This marks the first time in the state’s history that such results have been made available before schools resume.
Speaking earlier today, Senator Odey described the development as a reflection of Governor Bassey Otu’s renewed commitment to educational reform and improved standards. He expressed gratitude to the Governor for the prompt release of funds, which facilitated the smooth conduct of the examinations, and for ensuring free WAEC registration for indigenous students.
The Commissioner highlighted that 2025 recorded the highest number of registered candidates in the state’s history. He also reminded the public that Primary 6 placement results were released early last month, underscoring the Ministry’s focus on timely and transparent academic processes.
Providing a detailed breakdown, Senator Odey stated:
2025 BECE:
• Total Number of Students Registered: 42,007
• Number of Students Passed: 35,303 (84%)
• Number of Students Failed: 6,704 (16%)
• Pending Results: 572 (due to nonpayment and failure to upload)
2025 SS2 MOCK:
• Total Number of Students Registered: 27,746
• Number of Students Passed: 23,227 (84%)
• Number of Students Failed: 4,519 (16%)
• Pending Results: 733 (due to nonpayment and failure to upload)
The Commissioner also urged candidates to check their results online, providing the following instructions:
- Visit: https://education.crossriverstate.gov.ng/portal/index.php?site/check_cert_result_by_name
- Select the LGA, Exam Type, and Session (2025).
- Select the School and choose the Candidate’s name from the list.
- Click on Check Result.
Alternatively, candidates can visit: https://education.crossriverstate.gov.ng/portal/index.php/site/check_cert_result and use their Examination Number, Exam Type, and Year to access their scores.
Senator Odey reaffirmed Governor Otu’s pledge to raise educational standards, stating:
“This proactive approach will ensure that students, parents, and schools are better prepared for the upcoming academic year. It is part of our commitment to making Cross River’s education sector the best standard ever experienced in the state.”
