C’RIVER EDUCATION COMMISSIONER ENGAGES PRINCIPALS OF PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN CALABAR ZONE

Today, Senator Associate Professor Stephen Odey, convened a meeting with Principals of Public Secondary Schools in Calabar Zone to address concerns regarding the recently concluded statewide examinations (Primary 6 Placement, JSS3 BECE and SS2 MOCK), students conduct, and school operations. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of accountability among education stakeholders, as they serve as the Ministry’s representatives in their respective offices. He assured the public of timely release of examination results and warned against withholding funds collected from students, stressing that only duly registered students’ results will be released online. Failure to comply will not be tolerated. The Commissioner reiterated that the Governor’s approval on any matter is binding and that insubordination will not be condoned. The goal of the Ministry is to formulate policies that will transform the State Education Sector, and that requires collective effort and dedication.

Dr. Blessing Ugbe, Director of Certificates and Examination Ministry of Education, lauded the Commissioner for revolutionizing examination matters through digitalization, thereby meeting global standards since taking office. Mr. Etim Nsa Essien, Chairman, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), and Principal of Government Secondary School NYSC, along with Dr. Emmanuel Archibong, Executive Secretary, Cross River State Technical Education Board, commended the Commissioner’s reforms and appealed for his guidance when needed, demonstrating their willingness to learn from his vast knowledge. The meeting yielded positive results, with all stakeholders committing to uphold best practices and support the Ministry’s education reforms and policies for enhanced results. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Secondary Education Board, management staff, Coordinating Supervisory Directors, Executive Secretaries, and all Principals in the Calabar zone.
