C’RIVER EDUCATION COMMISSIONER BAGS STAR SERVICE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING IMPACT IN EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., has been honoured with a prestigious Star Service Award of Recognition by the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Calabar South, in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to the development of education in the state. The award was presented on March 26, 2026, during a retirement ceremony held at the Auditorium of the Calabar South Education Authority, while also marking the reception of a new Executive Secretary for the LGEA.

The event brought together key stakeholders in the education sector and highlighted years of dedication and commitment by outgoing staff, alongside renewed hope for sustained progress under the new leadership. In recognition of his dedication, exceptional service, and impactful reforms in the education sector, Professor Odey was presented with the award for his significant strides in repositioning education across the State.

Representing the Commissioner at the event, the Director of Administration, Chief Obeten Obeten, received the award on his behalf as he expressed heartfelt appreciation to the management of the LGEA Calabar South for the honour, describing the recognition as both humbling and motivating. He noted that the award serves as an encouragement to intensify ongoing efforts toward improving the quality and accessibility of education in the state.

Professor Odey also congratulated the retirees for their years of diligent service, noting that their dedication and hard work have earned them a successful and honourable exit from public service.
