C’RIVER COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION RECEIVES YALA COMMUNITY IN UNICAL ON COURTESY VISIT

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Professor Stephen Odey, on Wednesday received members of the Yala Community in (UNICA) on a courtesy visit to his office.

The delegation, led by Professor Rose Ohiama Ugbe, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for creating time out of his busy schedule to receive them. She noted that the visit was not only to pay homage but also to strengthen the bond between the Commissioner and the Yala people in UNICA

Professor Ugbe briefed the Commissioner on the community’s end-of-year event organized in honour of distinguished Yala sons and daughters in UNICA. She explained that the Yala Community had intended to present Professor Odey with an Award of Honour at the event in recognition of his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to the development of Yala. However, due to his tight official engagements, he was unable to attend the ceremony.

Consequently, the delegation formally presented the Award of Honour to him during the visit, applauding his laudable achievements and selfless service to his people. Professor Ugbe described the Commissioner as a great leader whose love, dedication, and commitment to the Yala community remain exemplary and worthy of emulation.

In his response, The Commissioner Professor Odey expressed deep appreciation to the community for the honour bestowed on him. He thanked them for their thoughtfulness and recognition, stating that the award would further inspire him to continue serving his people diligently.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of peace, unity, and collective responsibility among the Yala people, noting that harmony remains the strongest bond that sustains any community. He urged members to continue to uphold these values as they work together for the progress and development of Yala land.
