The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, on Tuesday joined his counterparts from the 36 states of the federation at the ongoing Two-Day Nigeria Education Summit organized by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in Abuja. He was accompanied by the Executive Chairman of the Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Mrs. Fidelia Okpo Ene, and the Board Secretary, Mr. Inyang Etta. Held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, the summit centred on the theme:
“Pathways to Education Financing: Developing a Synergy Between Town and Gown in Nigeria.”
The event attracted prominent stakeholders in the education sector, including the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, development partners, ambassadors, several state governors, deputy governors, and their representatives. Students from various institutions were also present, contributing valuable insights to the discussions.
The summit was formally declared open by the representative of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Kashim Shettima.
The gathering provided a strategic platform for states to explore sustainable education financing models and strengthen partnerships between academic institutions and the wider society, with the overarching aim of improving learning outcomes nationwide.
