The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, Esq., has been decorated as State Patron of the Cross River State Council of the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria. The colourful investiture ceremony, held on Sunday at the Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity Anglican Chapel, Calabar, brought together brigade officers and dignitaries from across the South-South region in a celebration of discipline, leadership, and Christian service.
Professor Odey was represented at the event by the Director of Examinations and Certificates, Mr. Asoquo Amaku, who stood in on his behalf during the decoration.
The programme featured the Investiture Service in honour of Sir Dr. Ikechukwu Ukweh as State President, alongside the installation of other state officers. The ceremony underscored the enduring values of discipline, moral instruction, and youth mentorship which the Brigade continues to promote. In recognition of his investiture, Senator Odey was formally decorated and presented with an award in appreciation of his commitment to youth development and the advancement of education in Cross River State.
In a goodwill message delivered through his representative, Senator Odey expressed deep appreciation to the State Organisers for the honour bestowed on him as he described the gesture as humbling and inspiring, reaffirming his dedication to initiatives that build character and nurture responsible future leaders.
Professor Odey, congratulated Sir Dr. Ikechukwu Ukweh on his investiture as State President and extended warm felicitations to the newly installed officers. He also congratulated Hon. Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State, who was equally honoured. The ceremony concluded with prayers, thanksgiving, and renewed commitments by members to uphold the vision and mission of the Brigade in shaping responsible and godly leaders for the future.
