OGOJA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN VOWS TO ENHANCE TRANSFORMATION IN RURAL AREAS

Hon. Sonnie Okem, Ph.D (CPS)

The Executive Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming rural communities across the council area, with particular focus on improving critical infrastructure.

Chief Agbeh made this known during an unscheduled inspection visit to the collapsed bridge linking Ogberia Community in Mbube East Ward I of Ogoja LGA with Utugwang Community in Obudu LGA. The bridge, which serves as a vital access route for economic activities between the two communities, has deteriorated, severely affecting transportation and the movement of goods and services.

Expressing deep concern over the poor state of infrastructure in the area, especially roads and bridges that facilitate trade and agricultural movement, the Chairman promised to urgently appeal to the Cross River State Government for assistance in the reconstruction of the bridge.

“Our people are predominantly farmers, and access to markets is critical to their livelihoods,” Chief Agbeh stated. “This bridge is not just a road link, it is an economic lifeline. My administration is committed to easing the transportation challenges of our rural dwellers to enable them to evacuate their farm produce seamlessly he said.

Chief Agbeh reaffirmed his resolve to work towards the infrastructural transformation of Ogoja, with a particular emphasis on projects that directly impact rural development and economic empowerment

The Chairman was accompanied on the visit by the Supervisor for Works, Mr. Jake Ogeh, and the Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogoja Chapter, Mr. Israel Obu..
